Thing 1: Now What??!!

I'm all proud of myself for creating a blog account, and that's all well and good, but then I remembered that the whole reason we're doing this is to figure out how we can use these technologies to make us better at our jobs - connecting kids with books/resources/information in our classrooms/libraries/labs. So, now what?

Well, tonight while I was checking e-mail, I read a posting on the TLC discussion list by a librarian inviting everyone to visit a book blog that a 5th grade teacher at her school is doing with her students. The kids are all writing book reviews and posting them on their class blog! I love it! Here's the link: http://pettuselemmonson.blogspot.com/ . They've also added a Shelfari widget to their blog. Now I want to figure out how to add one to this blog.

I can hardly wait to get to school tomorrow to talk to our 5th grade ELAR teachers about starting a Book Blog! We'll start with 5th graders and go from there!!! Fun, fun, fun!

Thing 1: Setting Up My Blog

I've been wanting to start a blog, but I wasn't quite sure what in the world I would have to talk about! So, KN, thanks for giving me LOTS of some"things" to blog about!

Learning these 23 new things is sort of like earning badges. It reminds me of a book that I just bought called You Can Do It!:The Merit Badge Handbook for Grown-Up Girls.

On the cover it says:

Dare to Dream
Learn Something New
Do Something Just For You

The book is attributed to Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas who died aboard United Flight 93 on 9/11. Her family finished the book after her death.

So, here's to learning something new! I Can Do It!
