I'm all proud of myself for creating a blog account, and that's all well and good, but then I remembered that the whole reason we're doing this is to figure out how we can use these technologies to make us better at our jobs - connecting kids with books/resources/information in our classrooms/libraries/labs. So, now what?
Well, tonight while I was checking e-mail, I read a posting on the TLC discussion list by a librarian inviting everyone to visit a book blog that a 5th grade teacher at her school is doing with her students. The kids are all writing book reviews and posting them on their class blog! I love it! Here's the link: http://pettuselemmonson.blogspot.com/ . They've also added a Shelfari widget to their blog. Now I want to figure out how to add one to this blog.
I can hardly wait to get to school tomorrow to talk to our 5th grade ELAR teachers about starting a Book Blog! We'll start with 5th graders and go from there!!! Fun, fun, fun!
I used Shelfari last year to post the NEW BOOKS in the library. I loved it!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about this idea. You are going to have so much fun. We had shelfari with the 9th grade and a teacher at Jackson is doing it with his classes. Great idea Elaine!!!
ReplyDeleteElaine,
ReplyDeleteHow do you think this is set up? It sounds really good, but I am trying to picture it before I take the idea to ELA dept. Do you think the teacher sets up an account and all of the kids log in with the same info and post...sounds a little risky. There has got to be a more trackable way... Frog
I followed the link on your blog and set up a shelfari on my blog. It was pretty simple. I just never stopped last year after we were shown and did it. Thanks for the link
